The Science of Falling Story

Science of Falling began in 2020, when Brent combined his background in physical therapy with a lifelong interest in movement, strength, and parkour. As he explored the science of balance and falling, he recognized a major gap in traditional fall prevention: people are often taught how to reduce their risk of falling, but rarely how to respond when a fall actually happens.

That realization became the foundation of Science of Falling. Brent began exploring falls not only as medical events or consequences of aging, but as movement problems that can be better understood, prepared for, and, in some cases, trained. His approach brings together balance training, strength and conditioning, safer falling techniques, and practical strategies for maintaining independence throughout life.

Since then, Science of Falling has grown into an educational platform offering evidence-informed articles, videos, podcasts, assessments, and step-by-step programs. Brent has also presented on balance, fall prevention, and safer falling techniques to professional and community audiences.

Ultimately, Science of Falling is about more than preventing falls. Its mission is to help people build the strength, balance, confidence, and movement skills needed to stay active and capable as they age. Brent believes preparation should begin before a fall, injury, or loss of independence forces someone to take action.
